Solveig's June 2012 quilts
These five quilts were completed in Fredericton, New Brunswick, during June 2012, while Solveig waited to hear the results of her May 30 PET scan (the PET results were great, by the way). Some of these quilts had been up to three years in the making. Others were started from scratch and finished during June. All were quilted on Solveig's HandiQuilter Avante machine.
"In A New York Year or Three" is the name - a play on the phrase "in a NY minute" - it is the New York Beauty and it has taken me about 3 years from start to finish. It is 96" x 80".
"!!Africa!!" 68" x 55" My original design to commemorate my visit to South Africa in 2009.
"Lost in the Sepia Jungle". 77" x 71". Not my usual color palette, but it was my "practice" piece, learning the One Block Wonder technique from the book, along with my daughter. All this while on chemo and radiation last fall. Was fascinated by the hollow cube shapes. This month I started with a pile of small pieces, assembled the top, and quilted it. NOW on to a "real" One Block Wonder, using brighter colours!!
"A Great Day at the Funny Zoo" c. 4.5' x 5.5' Top is above, and back (with pockets) is below.
