Decor Suites
Solveig believed that quilts were important home decor design elements, that can have personal meaning. Shown here are two of her projects.
The first three quilts shown form a coordinated bedroom suite Solveig created in the mid 1970s, with a wallhanging, king-sized bed quilt, and zippered pillowcases. Their common nautical theme reflects David's career in ocean science. Solveig later made three more wallhangings, using the lighthouse theme, now hanging in David's departments at the Universities of New Brunswick, New Hampshire, and Southern Mississippi.
The other five quilts were created in 1990 both as a memorial to David's father Ernie (1907-1987) who left a lot of silk ties behind, and to decorate the tiny (12 x 16 foot) Crabbe Mountain Ski Chalet that David had just purchased.
