World: quilts with a sense of place
These 15 quilts share being connected to some region or country, from a jungle to the Statue of Liberty in New York, from Persia to Bali to The South (Mardi Gras, sultry nights, hurricanes). Many of them record experiences from the over 25 countries that Solveig and David visited during their 49 years together.
The first quilt in this gallery was also Solveig's most challenging 1970s quilt: sharp points without paper-piecing!
The last three quilts are among Solveig's latest, largest, most challenging, and perhaps most successful quilts: !!Africa!!; In a New York Year or Three; and Lost in the Sepia Jungle.
