Jewel Box
Between 2002 and 2013 Solveig made a series of eight quilts (and a quilted vest) inspired by Kaffe Fassett's pattern in his book "Glorious Patchwork". The first quilt in 2002 was given to Tara. Solveig was so captivated by the design that she made more and more squares. In 2013 she rediscovered a box of these squares, and used them to create the remaining seven quilts. The interesting thing is that the squares were made in the quilting Stone Age, before rotary cutters, mats and rulers. But the tops came together beautifully square. These later quilts were machine pieced and long arm quilted on Solveig's Handi-Quilter Avante in Fredericton.
